Day 10: Winding down -Recap!

Ok, so my time here in Memphis is coming to a close, and to be frank I'm super excited!!!!! I've had a great time meeting all these people here, and hanging out and having a blast, but I'm tired and I want to go home! I miss my bed, my Nicholas, my parents, the rest of my family, friends and my Rajiv!!! The last few days have been a drag because everyone's counting down the days until we go home. Everyone is starting to feel a little homesick and starting to escape to their rooms a little earlier. Tomorrow we're going down to Beale St. again and we're going to celebrate my birthday! Most of us are planning to go out with a bang.
To recap on the last four days...

On Sunday we went to Cracker Barrel for lunch and then headed over to the National Civil Rights Museum. That was a sombering and inspirational day. The museum is built around the hotel that Martin Luther King, Jr. was killed at. The museum chronicled American Civil Rights from the inception of our nation. It started even before slavery and led up to the major movements in the 50s and 60. It was filled with facts, exhibits, quotes and pictures of the major occurences that we've learned about in school while growing up. But as you walk into the part of the exhibit that led up to MLK's assasination, you just begin to realize how current these events are. I was definitely moved. Eventually the museum led you to the actual room that MLK Jr. stayed at when he was assassinated. As I walked by and looked at his room (redcorated -due to investigation -as it looked during that day). Patrons are also asked to walk across the street to the building where the shot that killed MLK Jr. originated. They kept most of the room where his assasign stayed at with exhibits across the hall that showed all evidence from the case. The gun, the bullet (pulled out from the autopsy), and all other evidence materials were on display for the public to see. Sunday was definitely a day of culture for me and I'm very glad I got to see the museum.
Monday through today was back to our regular routine! Class, eat, workout, eat, class, etc. I actually worked out yesterday and Monday again and it felt great because of all the crap I've been eating. Monday night I went into hibernation because I was getting very tired of being around the same people for the last 10 days or so. It was a bit much so I decided to eat left overs in my room, watch tv, and went to sleep early! It was great! Yesterday I had dinner with a couple people in a nice little Italian joint. It was low key but fun nonetheless. Today was another day at the Cockeyed Camel -those damned hotwings weren't as good as they were the first night we got them. So that's what I had for dinner -bad hotwings with two budlights.
Tomorrow will be our last day and I'm super super excited. I'm ready to apply some of this knowledge I've learned but more than anything I'm ready to get on that plane and see CA!!! This humidity is just killing me and not seeing everyone is driving me nuts! When I get back, I'll fill everyone in on what I really thought of our training. I really need to dissociate from Memphis and step back to evaluate how effective I think the process was.
For now, I'm going to bed and dreaming of a non humid, comfy bed CA!
