Day 4: BBQ Heaven!

**This entry is dedicated to Rajiv.

Today was the first day since arriving to Memphis that we had true Memphis BBQ!! We have had PF Chang's, Ruth's Chris, Cockeyed Camel, and Ronnie Grisanti (Memphis Italian) since our arrival. Nothing really Memphis authentic, nothing really that blew my mind. Memphis is a world capital for BBQ and it was a mission of mine to go to the top BBQ places in the country. The world renowned Corky's BBQ. You can't come to Memphis without eating Corky's.

Upon arrival to Corky's you see a huge crowd outside! The Drive through wraps around the very small establishment. You can instantly tell that the native Memphians love this BBQ just as much as the tourists do. Although we had a slight snafu during the trip, it ended up being ok! Once we got to the restaurant and met up with the rest of the crew, a colleague of mine -Kendra, and I sat down with BBQ waiting for us. We ordered Corky's own brew and sank our teeth into some BBQ!! Before coming in, we asked the lady from the hotel who shuttled us over to the restaurant (about an hour later than we had expected) what she thought of Corky's and she couldn't say anything bad about it. So I was super excited about it! I couldn't wait to find out the hype of Corky's.

Now I've heard some good and bad things about Corky's. Some say it's not that great and that it's very overrated. Others say it's the best thing to happen since BBQ. But let me just tell you, I LOOOOVED IT! I mean back home we brag about Lucille's, but holy mother of BBQ! Corky's ribs just fall off the bone when you pick it up! I ordered the famous Memphis dry ribs. I've always heard great things about the dried ribs, and that they originated from Memphis, so I had to try. I placed my order with our amazing server Ashunta who was so sweet (Baby! was her favorite term of endearment for all of us). I loved it! As you can see, you get some yummy BBQ baked beans (Rajiv, you would've really liked that!), Coleslaw (I got fries instead because I hate coleslaw), and a nice Corky's Brew!! The beer was fantastic! It was a great suprise! I was so pleased with Corky's and I can't wait to give Rendevous, another famous Memphis BBQ place, a try tomorrow.

It was a very fun night! A group of us who are working on a project together went with a couple of people who ditched their own group to hang with the fun group! :) The people in my group are GREAT! There are a pair of people who aren't well liked in the group for various reasons. Let's just say that one came to class yesterday smelling like a liquor store!!!!! Yeah, can you believe that?? Our class is at their wits end with this particular person and I think something may escalate!!! But the majority are great and fantastic.
Well, I've got to get going and ready for class now! So I'll fill everyone in tonight when I get back from the Hub tour and before I go down to the infamous Beale St.! We'll be hitting up the infamous Hard Rock Cafe...what better place than the place Rock n' Roll was born?!

Have a great day everyone and I really do miss you all so much!
